some of the abundant and colorful sea life within the La Jolla Marine Preserve
and explore one of the most picturesque of the La Jolla Caves, which is open
at both ends. This trip will involve swimming a total distance of 1/3 mile (with fins).
Participants must have previously passed the BSA Swim Test.
Before entering the water we will be sure everyone has their gear fitted properly,
then we will review some basic snorkeling skills and safely rules and determine
dive buddies. We will have kayak escort during the entire event.
Scouts must bring their own properly fitting snorkel gear. A springsuit/wetsuit is
strongly recommended and will be required if the ocean water temperature drops
below 66 degrees. If poor sea conditions develop, this event will be canceled.

Correction on location - The Steak-n-Hike this year is actually at Lake Morena. The New documents are now posted below.
Every year the Troop II High Adventure Team holds the –STEAK 'N’ HIKE- to introduce hiking, camping and the high adventure leaders to prospective Webelos, our new and old scouts, and their families. After a hike and a Scoutmaster prepared special dinner, we will have a campfire and Saturday evening program to provide info on the 2007-2008 plans for high adventure. Scouts will buddy up and families can bring their tents to all stay together. Lake Morena County Park is approximately 50 miles from San Diego. East out the Route 8.
The Saturday morning departure from the church will be at 8:00 AM. Scouts will buddy up and most families will bring their tents to spend the night too. After campsite set up, the hike will begin. Siblings and friends are invited. The day hike for the Scouts covers a few miles over mild terrain with spectacular views. This year a meeting or “Scoutmaster Social” and light lunch will be included Saturday afternoon and occur following the departure of the hikers. After the hike and some games a Scoutmaster prepared special dinner will be served. We hope to have a campfire (fire season permitting) and Saturday evening program to provide info on the 2007-2008 plans for high adventure.
The weather this time of year is typically cool and clear with temperatures ranging from a low of 30 at night to daytime temperatures in the high 80's. It is possible to have a rain shower in this area. In the scouting tradition “BE PREPARED”. Go over the equipment list carefully.
After a good night’s sleep, a delicious breakfast, also prepared by the scoutmasters, will be served. After breakfast we will pack up and head back to San Diego - home in time for the afternoon ball game.
After breakfast we will pack up and head back to
Please RSVP with JoAnn Herbert by Sept 25. jherbert@san.rr.com or 858-565-9573.
